For the Instagram Girlies: How to Capture the Best Ski Pics

It's no secret that capturing the perfect Instagram-worthy shot on the slopes is an art form in and of itself. So, grab your Canon G7 X and let's talk about how to get the IG photo of the season:

1 ] Location, Location, Location

Finding the ideal backdrop for your ski shot is crucial. Look for a mountain view, snow-covered evergreen trees, or even slopeside ski chalets. Avoid lift lines and crowded greens as you’ll likely have a lot of photobombs there. Gondolas make for a great option as well if you wait for an empty one.

2 ] Dress to Impress

Now, let's talk about your ski OOTD. Leave those frumpy, overstuffed ski pants behind and instead, bring your Slope Siren Ski Suit to make all your followers jealous. Prepare for an overload of DMs asking for outfit links.

3 ] Accessorize

To elevate your slopeside style, bring accessories (utilize those ski suit pockets or our Sloane Belt Bag). Think chic, black sunnies, a black headband under your helmet, or even a Slope Siren Beanie. These little details will add a touch of personality to your shot and make your pics even better.

4 ] Perfect the Pose

When it comes to posing on skis, think beyond the usual clichés. Opt for elegant and unexpected poses that show off your confidence. Lean casually inside the gondola, lay in the snow to show off the Siren silhouette, or hell, grab an espresso martini at the après. Don't be shy.

5 ] Timing is Everything

The perfect shot requires lining up your timing. Avoid crowded slopes and wait for the right moment to capture the uninterrupted ski run. Bonus points if you catch the golden hour light right before the après kicks into high gear.

6 ] Capture the Action

While still shots are amazing, don't shy away from action shots or videos that showcase your skiing skills (and make for the perfect TikTok). If you’re with a friend or boyfriend who knows how to ski, have them record you on an empty run or stand off to the side while you ski down for a chic ski vid.

7 ] Bring a Bestie/Boyfriend

It's pretty hard to ask ask a stranger for pics while they're in the middle of a ski run, so bring a friend or bf and ask them to stop for 5 minutes for some pics. Your boyfriend will love it. If you do ask a stranger, the best time is at the top of the lift when everyone stops for a bit to prep their next run.
